As the Head of SnapScan, you will be accountable for the running of SnapScan, including the fast go-to-market delivery of impactful, digital, and client-centric solutions that enhance our value proposition for our clients while generating financial returns for our shareholders. You will be responsible for shaping the future of SnapScan, while ensuring smooth company operations, fostering a happy and engaged workforce and driving growth and innovation for our clients, as well as for both SnapScan and shareholder Standard Bank.
This role reports to the Board of Fire ID Payments and Standard Bank Business and Commercial Banking South Africa and is based in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities include:
Strategy Formulation & Implementation
- Accountable for developing and implementing SnapScan’s strategy as agreed with the Board
- Accountable for the management of SnapScan and corporate decision-making
- Collaborating with other executive heads and functions, both internally and externally, to implement the company's strategic and operational plans
- Reviewing and reporting on the company's strategy to the board, ensuring adherence to executive governance and that the team understands and executes the strategic objectives
- Cascading the company strategy and OKRs to the business, translating them into actionable goals for performance and growth. This includes implementing best practices and ensuring healthy collaboration with other internal stakeholders
General Management of the Business
- Drive the financial growth of the business and our shareholder Standard Bank
- Accountable for the financial health of the business, presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (as required) in line with the yearly budget for board approval
- Ensuring that each business area operates efficiently in terms of its strategic and operational plans and objectives
- Overseeing the administration, prudent budgeting, monitoring, reporting, communication, and liaison on all company affairs at a level acceptable to the board
- Implementing, maintaining, and managing effective financial and non-financial controls throughout the company
- Prudently managing resources within budget guidelines according to company policy and within ethical corporate governance guidelines
- Developing, aligning, and mobilising the Senior ManCo Team on an ongoing basis
- Collaborating with the Senior ManCo Team to understand their requirements and ensuring that the strategy is translated into agile delivery
- Ensuring that all Heads of Functions, managers, and employees uphold SnapScan's high standards of excellence
- Managing and driving monthly feedback and OKR planning meetings, as well as quarterly planning meetings, with the broader ManCo team and SBSA
- Ensuring efficient coordination between all business units and SBSA
- Monitoring market trends and competitor activities to stay ahead of the competition
- Developing and scaling the company in accordance with business needs and budget
Solution Management
- Designing and developing cutting-edge solutions that are prioritised and agreed upon with the Board
- Implementing, running, and improving solutions
- Maximising solution revenue and ROI in line while optimising costs within agreed budgets
Standard Bank Group Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders at our partner institution (SBSA) that are central to the company’s execution and success
- Negotiating and managing bank and third-party partnerships, service level agreements (SLAs), and contracts with other industry partners
- Creating and optimising collaborative work processes between the organisations, ensuring that SnapScan’s initiatives align with and enhance SBSA’s broader goals, and elevating overall customer experiences
Leadership & People Management
- Building and leading an effective and cohesive Senior ManCo team, extending to function managers
- Proactively hiring, motivating, managing, retaining and developing teams to achieve the required skill set and calibre of people required to deliver on the business strategy
- Ensuring a consistent approach to performance management, adherence to company values and policies, and fostering a highly motivated culture of operational excellence
- Steering the objectives and outputs for the respective functions aligned with the company's overall strategy and organisational goals
- Proactively responding to escalations, issues concerns, and addressing non-compliance and poor performance as required
- Assisting direct reports in scaling and adapting team structures in line with the company’s strategy
- Coaching and growing the competencies and capabilities of direct reports, engaging in succession planning, team design, and plans to achieve productivity and engagement
- Creating a sustainable, healthy and high-performing team environment and culture
Reporting & Metrics Management
- Driving performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics
- Reporting on performance and putting forward improvements
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identifying areas for Continuous Improvement and staying on top of new trends and developments in the fintech commercial and operational space
Compliance & Governance
- Ensuring that all company operations practices adhere to regulatory, security & privacy requirements
- Ensuring compliance with POPI, security and PCI regulations

You are our ideal candidate if you have:
- An MBA, Post-Graduate, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- A successful track record as a CEO, COO or Head of Operations
- Previous experience leading a company or considerable experience leading and developing effective, engaged and high-performing cross-functional teams
- Well-rounded experience in both corporate and tech startup environments (preferably in the fintech, financial services and banking and/or Payments industries).

- Experience serving on a board in an executive leadership role
- A sound understanding of Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Policy, Strategy, Data, and Information Governance
