We’re looking for a Financial Operations Specialist

We are looking for a Financial Operations Specialist to join our growing Operations Team! Our small but dynamic Operations Team is looking for a highly skilled individual who is able to make crucial enhancements to our customers’ payment experience.

As a Financial Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the reconciliation, movement and tracking of funds in several SnapScan accounts and verifying that all SnapScan funds are appropriately accounted for thereby reducing the risk of loss of funds and enabling revenue growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

Merchant Settlement Distribution

  • Processing daily settlement instructions to ensure merchants receive accurate and timeous settlement payouts
  • Investigating and resolving cases of failed merchant settlements to ensure merchant settlements are directed to the correct merchant bank accounts
  • Assisting tier 1 merchants with settlement reconciliation requirements to ensure accurate accounting of their funds

Revenue Enablement and Loss Reduction

  • Overseeing the movement and reconciliation of funds between the SnapScan settlement, wallet and fee receipt accounts to ensure funds are allocated to the correct accounts for revenue management
  • Processing and optimising the merchant invoicing process to ensure that SnapScan revenue is collected by:
  • ~maintaining the invoice records
  • ~recovering gross settlement merchant fees
  • ~liaising with our banking partner to generate and distribute invoices to required merchants
  • ~collecting failed fee debits directly from merchants
  • ~maintaining the SnapScan debtors ledger
  • Reconciling the SnapScan electricity account to reduce the risk of revenue loss as a result of service provider technical errors 
  • Managing the transaction refund process to ensure funds are accurately transferred and accounted for in the SnapScan accounts to reduce the potential loss of revenue
  • Providing financial operations insights and considerations during the development of new products and features ensuring financial risks are identified and appropriate actions taken to reduce potential revenue loss

Financial Operations Analytics

  • Producing analytics and reports on the overall performance of the financial operations to provide clear trend/issue identification to optimise decision-making and problem-resolution

Operations Projects & Assistance/Support

  • Collaborating and partnering with the Operations Team to co-create and implement project plans and initiatives to execute the Operations Team strategy
  • Collaborating with the Operations, Compliance and Customer Experience Teams on the management of customer queries over the weekend  ensuring that customers receive excellent customer service and that their queries are resolved
  • Collaborating with the Fraud Ops Specialist to manage the daily fraud limit alerts ensuring that fraudulent transactions are identified and appropriate actions are taken to reduce financial loss to the business

You are our ideal candidate if you have:

  • 1+ years of experience in a financial operations role  within a FinTech, Banking, Payment or Financial Services environment
  • In-depth understanding of payments in a FinTech environment
  • Experience in account reconciliation
  • Experience in data analysis/manipulation
  • Bonus points for:
  • ~ A relevant bachelor’s degree or professional certifications in Banking or Finance
  • ~ Experience in using business intelligence software: Looker, Sumo Logic
  • ~ Experience with Agile-friendly collaborative tools such as Jira, Slack, Miro
